Chapter 7: Space

In the eyes of Captain Tian Gang, the wild girl was not stupid, just straightforward and stubborn. Over the years, she had firmly believed that he was a good person, regardless of what the villagers said. She didn't hide anything and spoke her mind. Perhaps the wild girl really didn't know about her father's affairs.

Tian Gang was confident in his methods of bringing her in. He believed that Tian Ye resented her father for what he had done. He had inquired and found out that since her father's death, Tian Ye had never mentioned him to anyone except him. She was as stubborn as a mule.

However, the way she spoke was really off-putting. It was better to send her away early than to try to get anything out of her.

Tian Ye readily agreed, "Uncle, then I'll go. By the way, why did you call me over?"

Captain Tian Gang said, "Your aunt left half a catty of cornmeal for you to take back."

Tian Ye grinned widely, "Uncle, you're giving me food again. You're so kind. I'll give you and aunt everything I have to eat. Aunt likes to burn pine branches. When autumn comes, I'll go to the mountain to bring back some pine branches for her to use as firewood."

Captain Tian Gang looked at Tian Ye and said, "I'll remember what you said. Your father had food back then, and we shared it. Tian Ye, you're just like your father, kind-hearted."

Tian Ye nodded vigorously, "Yes, Uncle, you're right. My father was very kind-hearted. Everyone in the village says so. I'm just like my father. When I have food, I'll definitely remember you, Uncle. I know you want me to remember my father's kindness. Don't worry, I won't forget."

Tian Ye's expression showed that she understood what he meant, and she solemnly assured Captain Tian Gang. Her trust was genuine.

Captain Tian Gang sent Tian Ye away and never relaxed his gaze on her back. His face was so dark it could have dripped water.

Tian Ye's straightforward and unquestioning nature made Captain Tian Gang restless.

Tian Ye left quickly, but she didn't forget to go to Captain's wife to get the cornmeal. "Aunt, my uncle said you left cornmeal for me."

Captain's wife's face turned even darker. She had been standing at the door and hadn't heard what was said inside. When she heard Tian Ye's words, she knew her husband had given something to the wild girl again.

After a while, she went to the main room and gave Tian Ye two bowls of cornmeal. "Here, take it."

Tian Ye happily took the cornmeal and didn't even look at Captain's wife. The impatience on Captain's wife's face was evident. "I'm leaving, Aunt."

She ran off with the cornmeal.

Captain's wife's expression became even more unpleasant. This ungrateful girl was waiting to go home and cook it. How many good things had she given to this girl over the years without hearing a single word of thanks? She had raised a wolf cub.

Tian Ye weighed the bag in her hand and thought it must be at least two catties. She had made a profit.

Thinking about Captain's expression just now, Tian Ye shook her head. If she were an ignorant girl, she might have to be grateful for the rest of her life.

Since she arrived, the captain had constantly shown her small favors and tried to coax her, asking if her father had left her anything good.

Thinking about her father's legacy, not only had he left her three large houses and a piece of land, but he had also left her with such a hidden danger. Being watched by a powerful captain made her very worried.

Tian Ye thought that her father must have had something good on him, otherwise, how could he have brought food? This made her even more anxious. She would never admit to having anything good on her, learning from her father's experience.

As she left, she ran into Captain's daughter, Tian Hua. Thinking of what Zhu Lao had said today, Tian Ye deliberately looked at Tian Hua's backside a few more times, estimating that it wasn't much better than her own.

As for size, these days, pants were generally baggy, so how could you tell? This Zhu Lao was obviously staring at the girl's backside.

Tian Hua, seeing Tian Ye, was furious. "What are you doing at my house again?"

Tian Ye took out the bag. "Uncle gave me cornmeal."

Tian Hua's face turned dark. People outside were saying that the wild girl was her father's child, otherwise, why would her father treat her so well and give her things from the house?

Tian Hua couldn't control her temper and said to Tian Ye without any politeness, "Shameless, don't come to my house again in the future." If she hadn't known that Tian Ye was strong and wouldn't be able to snatch back the cornmeal, Tian Hua would have grabbed the bag from her.

Tian Ye thought that the captain's character wasn't great, but his daughter was well-taught and knew how to scold people.

Swinging the bag, Tian Ye said, "If Uncle doesn't call me, I won't come. You tell Uncle."

Tian Hua stomped her foot in anger, then went inside and slammed the door shut.

Tian Ye looked at the closed door and thought that the captain's daughter's fighting spirit was really not great.

Carrying the two catties of cornmeal back home, the remaining half pot of rice in the pot was just cooked. Tian Ye ate most of the pot alone, accompanied by the spring onions she had picked in the vegetable garden and some pickled vegetables.

After filling her stomach, her mood improved. Thinking about the two catties of cornmeal she had obtained for free, Tian Ye felt even better. It was a small gain for the day. As she tidied up the table, she hummed a little tune.

Tian Ye had a big appetite and was used to eating a lot. If she really started working, she wouldn't be able to eat enough with only seven portions a day.

The weather was hot and humid, even though it was only May. If she didn't handle the remaining half pot of rice well, it would spoil by the next morning.

In the field, Tianye closed the doors and windows, carrying half a basin of rice into the east room, and in the blink of an eye, she disappeared inside.

Tianye's father had something in his hand that made Captain Tian Gang think about Tianye, but Tianye had no idea what it was. Her father had never mentioned it to her, but Tianye estimated that it was probably similar to her own belongings.

The thing in Tianye's hand was like a space, where she could store things, cultivate land, and even engage in farming. If she worked hard in the space, she could even have a processing plant and other facilities.

After several years of research and exploration in the space, Tianye probably understood that it was similar to a space game. If a master had it, building a castle and becoming a king inside would not be a problem.

Unfortunately, Tianye was not capable. She was just a gaming waste, knowing what this thing was only because of her nephew. It was similar to the game she used to play with her nephew.

The things in the space didn't come for free. She had to work hard to mine, cut wood, and build her own house, basement, storage room, processing plant, and farm, as well as cultivate the land.

At the beginning, Tianye spent several months digging a mine in the space before building a decent house for herself. She worked day and night to cut wood inside, and finally managed to create a small courtyard that could withstand destruction, where she could plant two corn stalks and sow some vegetable seeds.

When Tianye was in the space, time flowed normally, just like in the outside world, beyond her control.

After leaving the space, the time inside followed the schedule set by Tianye. So, although the courtyard was small, she could always nibble on the tender corn. With this, she finally solved half of her food and clothing problems.
