Chapter 9: King Jin's Injury 1

Upon hearing this, Jiuling remained silent for a moment, then gave a faint smile and said, "The steward is overthinking. How could the emperor ask me such a question?"

Zhong, the steward, was taken aback.

How could he not ask such a question?

The emperor has issued an imperial decree specifically to inquire about the illness of Prince Zhi Jin. How could he not ask?

This girl's thoughts...

"Steward Zhong, the prince has returned!" A brief reminder came from outside the door. Zhong turned abruptly, his expression changing, and hurriedly walked out.

Jiuling raised her eyes. The one who spoke was the maid in blue who had just served her tea. Upon seeing Jiuling looking at her, she simply nodded faintly and then turned and left, showing no signs of unease.

At least, she didn't seem guilty at all.

"Miss, this person is quite interesting," Zimo also noticed the maid in blue. "Whether the miss drank the tea or not, it's not good news for her, right? But she seems unfazed."

Jiuling furrowed her brows slightly, seemingly paying little attention to the maid, and suddenly stood up and walked out.

"Miss?" Zimo followed in surprise. "You haven't eaten yet."

"We'll eat when we come back," Jiuling said calmly. "Let's go see Prince Zhi Jin first."

Zimo was puzzled. Didn't Prince Zhi Jin just return from the palace? What's there to see?

The Jingxin Garden was very close to Prince Zhi Jin's Zhaochen Palace, just a few turns after crossing the small bridge over the lake.

Inside the Zhaochen Palace, it was almost chaotic—numerous maidservants were coming and going, carrying in basins of clear water and carrying out basins of bloody water, their anxiousness evident in their hurried steps.

"Is Prince Zhi Jin injured?" Zimo stopped in surprise, looking at the mess in front of her. "Isn't Prince Zhi Jin the emperor's most beloved son? How did he come back with such serious injuries after just one trip to the palace?"

Jiuling remained silent, her peerless beauty veiled under the blue veil, her clear gaze sweeping over the hurried maidservants. After a moment, she slowly stepped forward and ascended the steps to the palace.

"Miss, please stop."

Jiuling raised her eyes to see four black-clad men with swords, all around twenty-five or twenty-six years old, with a uniform and stern appearance, staring at her expressionlessly.

One of them was the man who had stopped her in the palace earlier, named Wuji.

Jiuling seemed unperturbed by the display before her and spoke calmly, "I have been appointed to treat Prince Zhi Jin's illness, starting today."

"His Highness is currently being treated by the imperial physician inside for his injuries," Wuji said, then added, "You can come back later."

Jiuling shook her head. "If anything happens to Prince Zhi Jin, it will have a significant impact on his illness, so I must be present."

With that, she walked through the four men.

The four men turned to each other, their eyes revealing clear astonishment.

Where she had just passed, it seemed as if a tremendous force had emanated from her, suppressing all their internal energy and rendering them unable to make any obstructive movements.

...Could this woman be a hidden master?

Wuji fell silent for a moment, suppressing his astonishment, and said in a low voice, "This girl just arrived today, claiming she can cure our master."

Cure our master?

The other three men's expressions changed simultaneously, a complex and peculiar look flashing in their eyes.
