Chapter 3: First Encounter

The steward was taken aback.

This woman seemed extraordinary.

In the past three years, the doctors who entered and left the Wang Mansion had different intentions, whether they were tempted by the promise of a large sum of gold or sought to gain a reputation by treating Prince Jin's illness. Despite their efforts to remain calm upon entering the mansion, they could not hide their nervousness.

But this girl, although her true appearance had not been revealed, the steward could sense from her voice a kind of indifference, as if she were detached from the world, seemingly not seeking fame or fortune, and certainly not for the promised gold.

So, why had she come?

The steward suddenly felt curious.

Prince Jin's sleeping chamber was in the Eastern Meditation Garden. The carriage slowly came to a stop in the main courtyard before the main hall. The woman in green respectfully lifted the carriage curtain and said, "Miss, we have arrived."

A low, soft hum came from inside the carriage.

The steward couldn't help but look up, wanting to see the woman's face. Undeniably, in a short period of time, he had become curious about this woman.

However, his wish was in vain.

Just as he focused on looking, he felt a blur, and a figure flashed by at lightning speed. In that brief moment of confusion, he only caught a glimpse of a pure and clear color, like the Tian Shan snow lotus, before everything returned to calm.

The woman in green, however, showed no change in her expression. She calmly lowered the carriage curtain, turned around, stepped onto the stone steps of the corridor, and slowly walked towards the chamber.

The steward came to his senses, his expression slightly changed. It seemed like he wanted to speak, but for some reason, the words stuck in his throat, and he hesitated as he watched the woman in green walk towards the chamber. He stood at the bottom of the steps for a moment, but in the end, he said nothing and calmly instructed someone to take the carriage to the backyard for parking.

"Has someone been listed on the imperial ranking today?"

In the low-key and heavy inner chamber, a man's voice sounded, deep and elegant, with a hint of weakness due to insufficient vitality, but the tone was particularly pleasant to the ear. However, within this pleasantness, there was a clear hint of mockery and coldness.

"Yes, Master," a respectful voice replied from the inner chamber, "It was a woman who was listed on the imperial ranking."

"A woman?" A sneer, mixed with undisguised ruthlessness and gloominess, "What's the difference between a man and a woman? It's just another fool seeking their own death."

As the words fell, before the person beside him could respond, a figure flashed, and the man who had been serving in the inner chamber instantly flew outside, "Stop."

Two brief words, but they contained a chilling air.

"I am Si Jiuingqing, here to treat Prince Jin's illness," the woman looked at the man blocking her path, her face still covered by the ice-blue veil, and calmly explained her purpose, "Please step aside."

Her voice was cold, like the white snow in winter, pleasant but without a hint of warmth.

"You..."

The woman's patience seemed to be wearing thin. After speaking, she brushed past him and walked into the inner chamber.

The man was dumbfounded.

Was she... really not taking him seriously?

"My young lady is here to treat the illness. I don't have time to chat with you," the woman kindly explained, "You'd better not speak when my young lady is diagnosing your master's pulse, okay?"

The man looked at her, and his mouth twitched.

As she entered the inner chamber, a faint scent of medicine lingered in the air, very subtle, not at all like the residence of someone who had been bedridden for a long time.
